David G. Maples, III
David G. Maples, III, Vice President, Johnson, Maples & Associates, Inc. has 26 years of experience with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Maples’ FBI service included supervision of the bureau’s Organized Crime Squad, its Counterterrorism Program, and its Major Case squad in Los Angeles.
Additionally, since 1997 he has provided corporate security consulting, security risk assessments, crisis management and event security management consulting services to government
In 1982-1984, Maples served as the overall coordinator for FBI security and planning for the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The Korean government subsequently requested he serve as an advisor and FBI liaison to the Korean Agency for National Security Planning in support of the security efforts for the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea.
In 1989-92, he served in the same capacity with the Spanish National Police in preparation for the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain. Maples also was a consultant to the French Security authorities in their planning for the 1992 Winter Games in Albertville, and worked extensively with the Norwegian National Police on security planning the 1994 Winter Games in Lillihammer.
In 1993, Maples was designated the coordinator of FBI security planning for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. He served on the multi-agency planning group, was instrumental in the design of the master security plan, and was responsible for the integration and implementation of FBI security operations.
Maples is an active consultant to officials responsible for large event security planning.
A 1963 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Maples was a Naval aviator who served two combat tours in Vietnam flying carrier based attack aircraft.
